FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BBD Mattress Overlay Now Available from Rand-Scot Inc.
A newly designed, highly versatile mattress overlay is now available from Rand-Scot Inc. - manufacturers of the BBD® line of patient care products. The new BBD Mattress Overlay has many unique features aimed at helping to preserve skin health. It incorporates five of the time-proven BBD air-filled, soft rubber bladders to achieve this goal. Each of the five mattress sections can be individually inflated for the proper pressure reduction required by individual areas of the body. The BBD Mattress Overlay fits standard hospital beds and twin beds. It is 38 inches wide and 80 inches long. The covering is of synthetic "sheepskin-like" pile on the top and a durable nylon-reinforced bottom. A unique, inter-cell divider telescopes with the overlay's inflation and with patient movement to further reduce pressure. Each section of the BBD Mattress Overlay is hand-fabricated from high-quality calendered rubber sheet. This material has a higher modulus and superior tear resistance than dipped rubber substitutes. The use of the calendered sheet allows for the unique BBD "pre-taut" fabrication method - which in effect helps lower pressure under bony prominences. The BBD technique was pioneered by Ken McRight Supplies, Inc. The history of usage of this unique pressure reduction method dates back to 1950. In all, hundreds of thousands of persons have successfully used this cushion technology. The BBD Mattress Overlay joins Rand-Scot's BBD® (Bye-Bye Decubiti®) Therapeutic Cushions and Mattress Overlays product line.
